The concert where both the orchestra and the kids dress in costume!
Redwood Symphony is proud to present the Northern California premiere of Lorenzo Palomo’s The Sneetches, a work for narrator and orchestra based on the classic Dr. Seuss story about thwarting prejudice. Narrated by Walter “Walt, the Giant Story Teller” Mayes (who was our most celebrated Sweeney Todd last season), the tale will be accompanied by projections of Dr. Seuss’s illustrations over the stage. It will be an unforgettable experience for you and your young ones!
But wait, there’s more! The first half of this two-hour concert will feature our Tour of the Orchestra, in which the audience is invited to circulate through the building to meet the members of the different orchestra sections as they demonstrate their instruments. After intermission, the program will begin with Powerhouse, Dance of the Tumblers and excerpts from The Planets. The program concludes with a group conducting lesson from Maestro K and a Sousa march, led by ten young conductors chosen by raffle.
