Lundtvedt

Two “picture” suites of aural imagery, one a popular classic and the other destined to be, bookend this concert.  We are proud to present Mason Bates's Fourth Symphony in its Bay Area premiere. Drawn from the book by Mexican author Jorge Luis Borges, Anthology of Fantastic Zoology  conjures an other-worldly menagerie of sprites, nymphs and monsters. Natalya Lundtvedt makes her Redwood Symphony debut with a rarely-performed gem by Saint-Saëns and Ravel's masterly orchestration of Mussorgsky's piano composition, Pictures at an Exhibition, will bring the concert to a spectacular close!
