NOTEPAD FIRST ISSUE

We hope this newsletter will be an effective way to communicate with the orchestra and to reduce the amount of time spent during announcements each week.

CONCERT DATE CHANGE

The date of our Gala Concert has changed! It is now 8:00 PM on Saturday, September 30. Mark your calendars! Don't forget!

We realize this means three services within 24 hours (Friday night and Saturday morning rehearsals and the Saturday night concert). We apologize for this, and will do everything we can to prevent it from happening in the future. Nevertheless, none of these rehearsals is optional.

Eugene Fodor will be in town for only a short period. An artist of his international stature has done us a great favor by agreeing to perform with us at our birthday party. We owe it to him to be the best-prepared and tightest ensemble we can be for this event. Thank you for your understanding.

MAESTRO KUJAWSKY AWAY

Tonight's rehearsal will be conducted by Peter Govorchin. Please be nice.

$ REGISTRATION AND DUES $

College Registration. Redwood Symphony is a class at Caņada College. We must register a certain number of students in the class. If you do not have a Bachelor's degree, please let us know; the orchestra will save some money if you register. Sorry to take valuable rehearsal time to do registration, but the semester has already begun and we're already late. The support we get from the College makes this a worthwhile activity.

Orchestra dues. $30.00 per semester. We'll collect this next week. Checks are payable to Redwood Symphony. If this poses a financial hardship, please talk to Executive Director Claudia Herzog to arrange a waiver.

ATTEND THE EUGENE FODOR MASTER CLASS

Thursday, September 28, sponsored by Redwood Symphony. $10.00, free to orchestra members. Tell everyone you know, especially aspiring Heifitzes.

Sell lots of tickets to this concert!

(We'll cover "How to Sell $25 Redwood Symphony Tickets" in a future newsletter.) Sorry, no comp tickets for this concert.

STRING PARTS

Librarian Myrna Westover is your friend. Please follow her instructions regarding signing out string parts. It costs us a lot of money if anyone fails to return original parts on time after concerts; this has bitten us too often. Thanks for your cooperation.

STRING SEATING

Please refer to the seating charts posted around the hall. As always in Redwood Symphony, string seating is not so much a reflection of Maestro Kujawsky's impression of your playing as it is an attempt to achieve the best ensemble. If you have any questions about seating, please ask Eric.

WELCOME...

Welcome to new concertmaster Birgitte Moyer and to associate concertmaster Heather Katz.

LOGO GO BYE BYE?

Some folks in the orchestra think our Tenth Anniversary Season is the perfect time for a new Redwood Symphony Logo. Others want to keep the current one. Do you have an opinion? If you'd like a new logo, would you like to suggest a design? Let us know. There are plans for a new Redwood Symphony T-shirt; however, we'd like to settle the logo issue first.

[Editor's note: I had a delightful time designing the Redwood Symphony Notepad logo, based on our current logo. But I suppose I can always make a new one... ]

THANKS!

...to Anita Stoneham for being our soloist at tonight's reherasal!

Please let us know if you think the Redwood Symphony Notepad is useful. How can we improve it? Do you want one every rehearsal?

This is a Web version of text from the newletter "Redwood Symphony Notepad" which is distributed to members of the Redwood Symphony at rehearsals. The newsletter and this online version are edited by George Yefchak.
