It's time to start thinking about participating in our annual Concerto Competition. The date has not yet been finalized, but sometime in March is likely. Please see Eric regarding repertoire if interested, and plan on getting your own accompanist.
Eric says "people wanting copies of the audio tape of the concert can give me a blank cassette with their name on it, and which concert. Most concerts will fit on a 90-minute cassette, but a 100- or even 120-minute cassette is often needed."
For the past ten seasons, our concert programs have been designed and produced by Peter Stahl. In the old days, Peter says "Macintoshes and PageMaker hadn't been invented yet. I used an original IBM PC (with that cool cassette-tape interface) editing an NROFF script, printing on an enormous Xerox 2200 laser printer." Things certainly have changed since then! Nevertheless, Peter has decided that he would like to be free of this rather intensive task in the future. So the program for our Tenth Anniversary Gala Concert was produced jointly by Peter and George Yefchak, and George will be taking over full production now. "The layout style that Peter developed works well," George says, "so I intend to maintain his layout with few if any changes."
If you don't like the spelling of your name, etc., please let
George know. (He sits in the oboe section, often right next to
Peter.) He will also need information regarding the assignment of
the rotating principals for certain pieces. Several typographical
errors have already been found in the Gala program, but we'll try
to do better next time.
Please shop at the florists who contributed arrangements and bouquets for our Gala Concert and thank their owners in person!
