Dues / Donations Explanation

Condensed from Vol. 9, No. 3, (October 8, 2003)

Our required dues are $75 per season, but our budget assumes that most members will contribute $150. The $75 figure is the maximum the tax laws allow for dues to count as a charitable contribution. But your entire donation counts, not just the $75!

Here are the basic facts and answers to some frequently asked questions:

If anyone has questions or issues regarding the dues, please see our treasurer Richard Steinberg (clarinet) or any of the musician board members (Peter Stahl, Ann Walker, George Yefchak, Steve Ruppenthal, or Patti Harrell).

New CD Order Process

The procedure for orchestra members to order copies of previous concert recordings has changed. And the prices are lower!

When we started selling concert recordings, we charged $5 per CD ($10 for most 2-CD concerts) to help defray the costs of our then-new and fancy CD burning hardware. That device is long gone now, and most of you can probably burn CDs on your cell phones these days. So we've lowered the price to cover our expenses only.

Previously Tom Diskin (cello) took orders electronically (members filled out a form on our web site) and paid at the time of delivery. This has not worked well, and many unclaimed and unpaid for CDs have accumulated. So we're now requiring payment at the time of order. You can now print out a simple order form from our web site (visit the "Backstage" area), fill it out, and hand it to Tom with your money. If Tom isn't playing the current set, you can mail the form to him at the address provided. More details are available online. Order forms will be printed in the Notepad occasionally, when space permits.

Welcome Brittany

Our soloist for the Lord of the Rings suite is 14-year-old Brittany Gilmore, who sang in the HP Symphony's performances of this work in May 2004.
