The Schedule

See here.

Please remember to bring a music stand with you to each rehearsal. (Better to have too many than not enough!) Other items which can come in handy include stand lights, power strips, and extension cords.

Final Notepad Issue

--George Yefchak

After 11 years, I am ceasing regular publication of this newsletter. The Notepad was originally conceived as a time-saving alternative to oral announcements made during rehearsals. Recently I’ve had trouble finding enough material to support a weekly publication, and now virtually everyone has e-mail. If you have an message of interest to the orchestra, I'll be happy to send it to the orchestra’s e-mail list.

Change to November Concert

Sylvie Braitman, who was scheduled to sing the Berlioz Les nuits d'ete on our November concert, has stepped down due to health issues. Look for a replacement piece to be announced soon.

Dues

Orchestra dues remain unchanged. For full details, see the August 31, 2005 issue. In summary:

Discount Tickets

This season we continue to offer half-price tickets to various groups. To obtain the discount, patrons enter one of the following codes in the order form on our web site:

Please pass along these discount codes to eligible folks who might be likely to attend our concerts.

Recent Spam Issues

--George Yefchak

The orchestra's e-mail list recently received a large amount of spam and spam-related messages, including bounces from mails claiming to be sent from us. To suppress this, we now allow only Eric and a small number of other staff members to send mail to the list. If you have a message for the group, please send it to either Eric or to me, and we'll pass it on.

At present, everyone can still send messages to the instrument groups (e.g., flutes, winds, strings). I'd like to keep it this way, but we can add protection* to the instrument groups if necessary.

* Actually it's not quite that simple. For more details on the technical issues, see this article.

This is a Web version of text from the newsletter "Redwood Symphony Notepad" which is distributed to members of the Redwood Symphony at rehearsals. The newsletter and this online version are edited by George Yefchak.
