Season Ticket Sales

Let's really start working on our Season Ticket sales campaign. Please try to sell at least one season ticket! Tickets should be available now from Claudia Herzog (violin).

Address This!

Dorothy Norman, who has been addressing our flyers for the mailing list for years, would like out of the job. We really need someone with a modicum of computer know-how to take over. It involves a few hours of mindless, easy work seven times a year. (That's how many mailings we do.) Please see Claudia Herzog (violin) or Peter Stahl (oboe) if you're interested.

NetEscape

Claudia Herzog's Netscape e-mail address is no longer available. Please contact her in person at rehearsal, or by phone at home (415-365-7152).

Forms Forms Forms

Today you'll each be receiving a sheet containing three forms. We'd like you to fill these out, turn them in (directions will be given at rehearsal), and help us in any way you can.

The forms cover the following three areas:

Names and addresses Friends & family to be added to our mailing list.
Potential grant sourcesWe have a volunteer who will write grant applications and approach companies, etc. What we need is ideas and info on groups to approach.
Flyer distributionWe need ideas for how we can distribute fliers efficiently. (Thanks to Tom Diskin for volunteering to distribute fliers throughout the College of San Mateo, Skyline, and Caņada College school districts!)

Caņada Fee Info

Here is a breakdown of the $24 registration fee every member must pay:

Health Center

The center offers services including consultation on health problems, first aid, vision screening, blood pressure readings, assistance with referrals to psychological services, arrangements for emergency care, and student insurance. The Health Center is open during day and evening hours. The telephone number is 415-306-3309. Students who depend exclusively upon prayer for healing in accordance with the teachings of a bona fide religious sect, denomination or organization may be exempted from paying the Health Services Fee. Contact the Office of Admissions and Records for details.

Associated Students of Caņada College

All students enrolled at Caņada College are members of the ASCC. The elected Student Senate is the official voice of students on campus. The Senate promotes and coordinates activities sponsored by the students on campus, administers student association monies, and represents student interests through the college's governing committees. The Student Activities Fee (optional) is $5 per semester. Funds collected help support student activities, services and scholarships on campus. The Caņada College Student Body Card is good for special student discounts at ASCC sponsored events, basketball games, movie theaters, restaurants, and other community businesses.

Note: Peter Stahl (oboe) is attempting to find out how to obtain a Student Body Card. More details will follow.

NakedMan CDs

In June two dozen RWS members trekked up to Skywalker Ranch outside San Rafael to record the song cycle NakedMan with the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus. The recording came out beautifully and is available for purchase from Claudia Herzog at a discounted price. The price for orchestra members is $10.70 for the first copy and $15.00 for any additional copies. If you played in the recording you are entitled to one free copy; please see Claudia if you haven't yet picked yours up.

Hewlett Packard's all-volunteer, "just-for-fun" corporate orchestra is looking for a few extra players to join them this season. In particular, they are strongly in need of horns. Other instruments are welcome too, as are volunteers for our last-minute substitute list.

Rehearsals and concerts are typically at noon, one or two days each week, plus a few evening rehearsals. Concerts are typically at noon, plus an evening "Friends and Family" concert.

If you're interested, please see HPSO's Principal Conductor, George Yefchak (oboe) or visit the HPSO web site.
