Since the Caņada College Theater will be closed for refurbishing this summer, our Family Concert will be held on Saturday, July 26th at Spangenberg Auditorium in Palo Alto. Spangenberg is on the campus of Gunn High School, on Arastradero Raod near Foothill Expressway. The rehearsal schedule will be announced soon; it's possible our rehearsals will be moved to another location as well
We have no news to report this week, except to say that we will be resolving our relationship with Clarity soon. Our preference is for Clarity to issue the Sorcerer's Apprentice/Pictures at an Exhibition CD soon. If that's not possible, we will try to get it published elsewhere. We won't schedule any more recording sessions until the material we've already recorded has been released. This means no sessions until 1998, possibly even later. Thanks to those who discussed the issue with the managers and board members two weeks ago. Stay tuned for more news as events happen.
We need a dedicated java-head to be our coffee brewmeister! Redwood Symphony's new 100-cup coffee maker made an auspicious debut in the lobby at our February concert. In fact, we sold the entire pre-concert concert urn, and sales at intermission were brisk. Now that we have the equipment, we need a person (in the orchestra or not) to do the following:
That's it. Our expert lobby volunteers will handle the rest, including setting up the sales table, selling the coffee, brewing a new batch for intermission, and cleaning the urn.
As you can see, it's not a lot of work, and at $1 a cup it helps the orchestra a lot. If you'd be willing to take on this awesome responsibility, please see Peter Stahl (oboe) or Janet Sloan (cello).
Rumor has it that new RWS T-shirts are coming. Watch for details to be published here.
