Please keep the following dates in mind if you're providing information for the next concert program:
Our maestro would like everyone to know the importance of proper notification of a
missed rehearsal or set. While it is perfectly fine to let your section know, or il
maestro himself, it is of the greatest importance that you also let our orchestra
manager, Doug Tomm know. Eric does not write down what you say, because he assumes that
you'll also let Doug know. Assume that Eric is senile and will completely forget that you
ever told him, and will yell at you for not telling him. ![]()

Here's the context. I asked one of our non-playing volunteers, Margaret Anderson, to provide feedback on how we can have a more organized intermission. Her comments were as follows. (Note: her main request is that people bring more cookies and more juice to each concert. Please let me know if you will be bringing any of these items so we know how much to purchase in advance.)
Doilies would look a little nicer than napkins, but would be "stained" from cookies and would probably have to be tossed each time. Table tents are nice, but if we don't know what's in cookies or what we're going to get for donations this is a little bit of a last minute challenge. One suggestion: get more "snack" donations (or purchase more). Have the cookies and juice arrive earlier so we can get set up before the people start trying to buy everything. I think the timing on getting the coffee started is getting better but if we're going to sell before concerts that just moves up the start of the preparation time and that's where it gets tight I think. I don't think we need more table clothes unless we're going to have more table space to use/cover. |
Thanks for your help, everyone!!!

Wind and string players: if you've never done a summer chamber music workshop, you're missing one of life's great experiences! Where else can you hone your sight-reading skills, build your knowledge of the literature, schmooze with other friendly amateur musicians, and even work on overcoming your performance anxiety in an informal setting? The Chico Chamber Music Workshop, held on the lovely John McClaren-designed CSUC campus, is a great place to do all these things. We especially encourage oboe, bassoon and horn players to apply, though there is always room for enthusiastic string players!
There will be two sessions this summer: July 26 - 31 and August 2 - 7. Please see or e-mail Heather Katz (hkatz@iii.com) if you want an application or would like more information.
