The orchestra librarian is tired and would like to be retired. Persons interested in taking on the librarian duties are enthusiastically encouraged to talk to Eric or Claudia as soon as possible.
We're still looking for extra singers to join the choirs for our Mahler concert. Rehearsals begin in January on Tuesday nights. Dr. Patricia Hennings will rehearse the Skyline College Chorus (San Bruno, Chorus I), John Bush the College of Notre Dame Chorus (Belmont, Chorus II), and Janice Gunderson the Peninsula Cantare at Cañada College (Redwood City, Chorus II).
Some Wednesday nights with the orchestra at Cañada College in March and April will be necessary. The performance will be at 3:00 p.m. on April 11 at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center.
Don't miss out on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do this incredible work! Pass the word; we want to double the size of the choruses we have now.
Dr. Hennings' group probably needs more singers than the other two. They all need more men!
Peninsula Cantare rehearses at Cañada College.
Rehearsals will begin January 26 at 7:30 P.M.
Peninsula Cantare is a 1-unit Cañada class at $12 a unit plus parking, etc.
Skyline College Choir rehearses in San Bruno at
Skyline College, in the choral room, 1111. Their first rehearsal is Tuesday, January 26.
The fee is unknown at present--it may be free!
College of Notre Dame Choir rehearses on Tuesday
evenings, 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., at the Taube Conference Center (first building off
Ralston's campus main entrance). The first rehearsal will be January 19, 1999. They
welcome all singers, but because this is now a women's chorus they will especially be
looking for men to join us for this project.
Cost: $25 for the semester.

As an amateur musician who has recently been let go from her day job as an editor, I am fortunate to have music as a support in this time of need. Unfortunately, as a double bassist, playing on the streets may not be lucrative enough a career to get me through the lean winter months ahead. Being new in the Bay Area, I'm asking friends at the Redwood Symphony for any information or advice they may have relating to the local publishing industry.
I have several years' experience writing and editing content for a CD-ROM encyclopedia. An editorial position in a book publishing company would be ideal; online publishing or grant writing also interest me. If you have any suggestions or contact information, you can find me in the bass section at our next rehearsal. Thanks!
Sincerely,
Catherine Okelman (bass)
Valerie Sarfaty is still looking for a used laptop PC (with a floppy drive) so she can transfer files between it and her computer. It would be used for word processing primarily, and she'd like to spend something in the $400 - $500 range.
Call 650-366-6872 if you can help.
