I will be conducting The Soldier's Tale (either suite or with narrator) at the January 21 chamber concert. So far, we also have Ravel's Introduction and Allegro and a brass piece. There's room for at least one, possibly two more works. I'd love to have a string piece, a nineteenth or eighteenth century work (or even earlier!). How about Baroque?
The Master Sinfonia (David Ramadanoff, music director) is hosting two reading sessions:
Thursday, November 9th, 7:30 P.M.
Mahler Symphony No. 5
Foothill College, Smithwick Theatre
Thursday, November 30th, 7:30 P.M.
Prokofiev Symphony No. 5
Los Altos United Methodist Church
“Creekside” Room
Wind players, if you're interested please contact Barbara Cohn at barbara@arts4all.org. Strings, just come!

All regular members are eligible to compete on Sunday, Feb. 4, 10 to ? A.M. We will have an excellent accompanist on hand, but you can chose to bring your own. The winner (or winners) will perform in the 2001-2 season. I would like to know what your selection is in advance, in case it's something we did recently, or it is inappropriate in some other way. I have no interest in the music being memorized, by the way, though the entire work should be prepared.
