Viennese Ball

The annual Viennese Ball at the College of Notre Dame is organized by our concertmaster, Birgitte Moyer. It raises much-needed money for music scholarships at the school. It's also a lot of fun. Come see the famous painting of the Pope doing the tango! (Please consider playing. It's really a lot of fun, with good food, champagne, and the opportunity to dress to the nines.)

Rehearsals: Thursday, February 22, 7 to 10 P.M.
Saturday, February 24 (same day as ball) 10 A.M. to 1 P.M.

Ball: On the same Saturday, 8:30 P.M. (8:00 call) to midnight. There will be two breaks.

Location: Rehearsals and ball are at Ralston Hall Ballroom, College of Notre Dame

Personnel: 5 or 6 1st violins, 2 seconds, 2 violas, 2 cellos, tuba, or electric bass, 2 flutes, 1 oboe, 2 clarinets, 1 trumpet who transposes (most pieces have only one part), 1 percussionist with drum set, one timpanist (timps are at CND), keyboard for horn parts.

Tickets: $60; half price ($30) for friends of orchestra members. Call 650-508-3429.

Please let Eric know if you're interested in playing.

Remember Pheonix? ( fffff )

Paul Yeon Lee informs us that his Phoenix, commissioned for (and performed by) Redwood Symphony last season, will be performed by the American Composers Orchestra in this year's Whitaker New Music Readings Session in New York city.
