The Redwood City Civic Cultural Commission has awarded us $5000 for the commissioning of two original works by Festinger and Saxe. Many thanks to Stephen Ruppenthal for doing a formidable job in presenting our proposal!
The composer, Miguel del Aguila, has changed the title of Conga to Conga-Line in Hell.
If you missed it last week, or forgot to bring your checkbook, please remember to pay the $24 fee to our treasurer, Richard Steinberg (clarinet). This applies to regular members only.
Why are the deadlines so soon? Because by submit ting the program to Caņada College two weeks in advance, the programs are printed at greatly reduced cost. If we miss this deadline, we are forced to pay significantly more for duplication at Kinko's.
New Logo (and Shirts?)We're now using a new logo designed by Barbara Heninger and George Yefchak. This logo, which features black text and color (red) graphics, is an "enhanced" version of our previous logo. The design is easier to incorporate into page layouts due to a more symmetric shape, and it can be scaled accurately to any size.
We soon hope to have shirts featuring the new logo. Janet Sloan (cello) will be coordinating this effort. Stay tuned for more information coming soon.

If you own a Palm device or a Windows CE handheld computer, you can down load our rehearsal schedule directly to your device. You'll need to install a small program from AvantGo. Complete instructions are available online at www.redwoodsymphony.com.
Notepad is the newsletter for Redwood Symphony members. If you have some news of interest to our membership, please don't hesitate to write it down and send it to the George (oboe) so we can include it in our next issue!
Notepad is typically distributed every two to four rehearsals (but never at a sectional rehearsal), depending on the articles received and the editor's schedule. Past issues are available on the web.
This is a Web version of text from the newsletter "Redwood Symphony Notepad" which is distributed to members of the Redwood Symphony at rehearsals. The newsletter and this online version are edited by George Yefchak.
