Through an oversight, one very important orchestra staff member was omitted from the new Handbook. Stephen Ruppenthal (trumpet) is our Contemporary Music Advisor. As an authority on most forms of contemporary music, he regularly meets with Eric to propose new and recent works to perform, and has had a strong influence on recent years' programming. In addition, Steve has been a strong and persuasive advocate for the orchestra, especially when we have applied for grants from the Redwood City Civic Cultural Commission.
Maestro Kujawsky is taking suggestions for works to be performed at the June 1 Chamber Concert. If you're interested in performing something, please contact Eric. If it's a new or unfamiliar work, please provide a recording if possible.
We are also interested in featuring very short chamber works (three-minute or less) as part of our regular orchestra concerts. If you have something in mind for this, please talk to Eric.
Are you interested in performing a concerto with the orchestra next season? The competition will be held on Sunday, January 26. Please contact Eric if you're interested.
