Lynda's Cookie Recipe

Mix ingredients in order given. Preheat oven to 375˚F. Can toast pecans while oven preheating for about 6-8 minutes. Line baking sheets with aluminum foil. Drop large spoonfuls of cookie dough on ungreased foil. (I use a size 40 ice cream scoop.) Bake at 375˚F for 11½ minutes.(3rd rack from bottom of oven) Smaller cookies will take less time and larger slightly more. They will not look done and be fairly soft. Slide foil off baking sheet for cookies to compose themselves (will take about 10 minutes). To get chewier cookies, make sure butter is fairly soft and rap baking sheet half way through cooking. Turning sheet around halfway through the baking time will accomplish the same thing. This apparently stops the leavening action of the baking soda.

*This recipe is almost identical to the one Cook's Magazine came up with for their perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe. I think theirs has a tad more flour. I've used 6 oz white Lindt chocolate and 3 oz bittersweet Lindt but usually reverse those amounts and use more dark. The best price is three bars for $4.89 or so at MilkPail on California & San Antonio in Mountain View, across from Safeway (which charges $2+/bar). Next best price is Cost Plus if you want to use Lindt.

Party after the Concert

Eric has reserved the party room at Chevy's on Sunday from 5:30 to 8 P.M. We hope to see many of you there. Chevy's is on the east side of El Camino in Redwood City, about a mile south of Woodside Road, at 2907 El Camino.

Take 280 south to the next exit, which is Woodside Road. Turn left at Woodside and go a long way (five miles?) to El Camino. Turn right (south) on El Camino and look for the Chevy's sign on your left.

Paid Gig

Needed: 3 violins, 2 violas and 1 cello to perform Haydn's Little Organ Mass with First Congregational Church of San Jose. Rehearsals are Saturday morning, April 26th, Monday night, May 5th. Performance is Thursday night, May 8th.

Please call Kristin Link (violin) at 264-4671 or e-mail brlink@pacbell.net if you're interested.

Dress Rehearsal Photos

Barb Heninger, our photographer and season brochure co-designer, will be at Saturday's dress rehearsal to take photos, some of which will end up in next season's publicity materials. Eric will be wearing concert dress. While some casual photos may be used, the preference is for shots in our peculiar "look." So please consider dressing in black for the dress rehearsal (especially if you want your likeness in our PR). You don't need to wear your exact concert outfit, just something black.
