Logistics for this Concert

As you know by now, this is the first Redwood Symphony concert to take place with neither Eric or Valerie in attendance. So, we need lots of help!

Thanks in advance!

Redwood's Messiah Gig

A reminder that Redwood Symphony will provide the chamber orchestra for Schola Cantorum in the Bay Area's oldest and most popular Messiah Sing. There is one rehearsal on Tuesday, December 9 at Braun Rehearsal Hall on the Stanford campus. The performance is Monday, December 15, 8 P.M. at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts.

We'll need strings, oboes, bassoons (optional but nice to have!), trumpets, and timpani. This is a volunteer gig, but the Schola will pay Redwood Symphony a fee (which our budget could sure use!). Please contact Eric if you're interested in playing.

Tickets, Will Call, etc.

We're making a large number of free tickets available to groups and/or people who would otherwise not attend. We're doing this because SMPAC is a huge hall and we'd like to present this fabulous concert to a large audience. But we don't want to annoy patrons who pay regular admission. So, please offer free tickets only to people who you feel will come and enjoy the concert, but who would not have attended without the free offer.

If you can't personally deliver tickets, notify Diane Honda (violin) who will add names to our will-call list.

Concert Dress

Just as a reminder for new folks…

Our concert dress is “black with a splash of color.” No tuxes required (unless you really want to wear one).

Sightreading Opportunity

Master Sinfonia is having a sight-reading session for Shostakovich's 5th Symphony on Thursday, November 20th, at 7:30 P.M. in the Creekside building on the Los Alto United Methodist Church campus. Flutes and oboes parts are covered. Other winds and brass should check with the Master Sinfonia section managers: Reeds -- Kathryn Barnard at KathrynBar@aol.com; Brass -- John Burton at jburton@exponent.com. Strings, harp, trombones, and percussion especially are needed. The string manager is Jane Johnson, at janetroyjohnson@earthlink.net, and the conductor is Maestro David Ramadanoff.
