Bring in a Crowd

-- Peter Stahl, member of the board

Hey orchestra! Who’s going to put people in the theatre on June 13? Not the Audience Fairy. Not Governor Schwarzenegger. Not a two-inch ad in the Pink Section. You are! Yes, you, the hard-working musicians, are also on the hook for getting us our biggest crowd of the year.

How are you going to do it? Here’s how:

NOW is the time to tell everyone you know how proud you are to be in our orchestra. If people see your enthusiasm, they'll naturally be attracted to this concert. We are guaranteed to knock their socks off with the program, be they classical music fans or uninitiated. Karen Bentley is an electrifying performer, and our Beethoven Ninth will connect with people in a way few orchestras can.

So here’s your message: SMPAC, Sunday afternoon, June 13th (one week before Father's Day). Great orchestra, fabulous soloists, marvelous chorus, unforgettable concert. RESERVE THE DATE!

Think YOU Had a Bad Day?

Redwood Symphony's fabulous pianist, Julia Greer, was scheduled to perform the Rachmaninoff piano concerto No. 1 with Saratoga Symphony this past Sunday, under the direction of Maestro Jason Klein. Julia failed to show up at the dress rehearsal, since she was having an emergency appendectomy! Later Jason called several dozen pianists in the area, trying to find a last-minute sub. ("Hey, can you play the Rach 1 tomorrow?") This was not successful. But to everyone’s amazement, Julia arrived, just hours after surgery, and played the gig!
